Life is so strange when you don't know

I'm not one who can say that this is the first time I've been proud of my country. As a student of history, I've seen that while we've faltered and failed on occasion, we have always risen above our low points.

It would have been easy while overseas (an uniquely Anglosphere phrase, an unhealthy british tradition) to claim Canadian citizenship, easier even for those of from the parts of America that do play hockey and buy bagged milk. I've never done so. While I might have been ashamed of the representatives my country put on the world stage, I have retained my faith in the premise of America.
