Blue, blue, electric blue

Apparently, I'm not the only one who finds blue lights comforting. An article in the Seattle Times today indicates that both Glasgow, Scotland and the Nara prefecture in Japan have seen reductions in crime and suicide rates after switching to blue illumination on streets and railway platforms.

Previously I'd read about blue lights being used in public restrooms in the Netherlands as a discouragement to needle users, since blue lights makes it difficult to find a vein.
